Spain, June 17, 2026: Members of Indian community in Spain have expressed gratitude to Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Member of Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, Satnam Singh Sandhu for getting the pending cases of renewal or re-issuing of passports and Police Clearance Certificates (PCCs) for Indian nationals residing in Madrid and Barcelona resolved by taking up the matter with the Union Ministry of External Affairs.
“We thank MP Satnam Singh Sandhu for his endeavor in the past one month for ensuring clearance of over 41,000 pending cases of renewal or re-issuing of passports for members of Indian community in Madrid and Barcelona. After MP Sandhu took up the matter with Indian government, almost 41,000 such cases including about 21,000 in Madrid and 20,000 in Barcelona were resolved. After that, we had given MP Sandhu a list of about 150 such pending cases out of which now only 22 pending cases including 15 in Barcelona and 7 in Madrid remain to be resolved due to intervention of Indian government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi following MP Sandhu’s initiative. The inquiries of PCCs or passports were pending in Punjab. MP Sandhu also got those inquiries cleared by taking up the matter with the DGP Punjab and police administration,” said Amrik Singh along with a group of Indian youth in living in Barcelona.
Thanking MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, a member of Indian community in Spain said, “We had given him (Sandhu) a list of passports which were pending for a long time but they have been issued now. We received a list of issued passports on Thursday. We also thank the Punjab Police DGP and all the Punjab Police officers from all the districts of Punjab who have helped in clearing the pending Police Clearance Certificates (PCC). Now, only those people who are submitting PCCs are left to be issued passports. We request you (MP Sandhu) to get such passports issued by 30 June,”.
