Chandigarh, June 23, 2026: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday directed officials to take immediate action on all legitimate demands raised by employee unions, reaffirming the Bhagwant Mann government’s commitment to maintaining a transparent, productive and harmonious relationship with state employees.
Cheema, who heads the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to address employee grievances, held detailed meetings with representatives of four employee unions and reviewed memorandums submitted by them regarding various pending issues.
During the high-level meetings held at his office, the Finance Minister assured union representatives that all genuine demands would be considered sympathetically and addressed without unnecessary delay.
“All legitimate demands raised by employees will be addressed with immediate and empathetic action,” Cheema said while directing departmental officials to expedite the processing of cases already under consideration.

“The Bhagwant Mann Government deeply respects the invaluable contribution of state employees. We are committed to ensuring that their genuine concerns are addressed in a timely and transparent manner,” he said.
Cheema also instructed administrative secretaries and heads of departments to eliminate procedural bottlenecks and ensure that proposals related to employee demands are processed within a fixed timeframe.
He directed officials to streamline all pending cases and place them before the Cabinet Sub-Committee without delay.
“All proposals currently under review must be brought before the Cabinet Sub-Committee within a clear, time-bound framework,” the Minister said, stressing that the government aims to foster trust and cooperation with its workforce.
The meetings were attended by representatives of the Covid-19 Medical and Para Medical Volunteer Union, Jal Supply and Sanitation Social Employees Union, Sarv (Samagra) Shiksha Abhiyan Mid-Day Meal Daftri Karmachari Union, and the Associate Pre-Primary Adhyapak Union.
Among those present were union leaders Kuldeep Singh, Rajinder Singh Sandha, Jagmohan Singh, Rajwinder Singh, Navjot Singh, Amandeep Kamboj, and Gurpreet Singh, who discussed various service-related issues and demands with the Finance Minister.
