Farmer Unions announce July 21 Delhi rally against India-US trade pact

New Delhi, July 19, 2026: Farmer organisations under the banner of the Desh Bachao Morcha have called for an All India Kisan Rally at Kisan Ghat in New Delhi on July 21 to protest against the proposed India-US trade agreement and press for a series of demands concerning the agriculture sector.
The rally follows motorcycle marches organised across several states on July 15, during which farmers submitted memorandums to district authorities opposing the proposed trade pact. The Morcha has described the July 21 gathering as the next phase of its nationwide campaign.
Farmer leaders have expressed concerns that the proposed agreement could affect key sectors, including agriculture, dairy, digital trade, investment, intellectual property rights and market access. They argue that reduced import duties on agricultural and dairy products could expose Indian farmers and small businesses to unfair competition from global corporations.
Apart from demanding that the proposed India-US trade deal be scrapped, the Morcha has also sought a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops in line with the Swaminathan Commission's recommendations, a comprehensive farm loan waiver and a national policy to address water management and protect India's food sovereignty.
The Desh Bachao Morcha, a coalition of nearly 80 farmer and farm labour organisations from across the country, has appealed to farmers, workers, youth and members of civil society to participate in the Delhi rally in large numbers. A six-member coordination committee has been constituted to lead the campaign.
Farmer leaders have also urged the Central government to make the draft trade agreement public and hold a detailed discussion in Parliament before finalising any deal. They warned that if their concerns remain unaddressed, the agitation could be intensified.
