Raja Warring questions Mann, Kejriwal over delay in sacrilege justice

Chandigarh, July 19, 2026: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday criticised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of failing to deliver justice in the state's sacrilege cases despite being in power for over four-and-a-half years.
Recalling the AAP's promise made before the Assembly elections, Warring said the party had assured the people that those responsible for the sacrilege incidents would be punished within 24 hours of coming to power. He alleged that with only a few months left in the government's term, the promise remains unfulfilled.
The Punjab Congress chief accused the AAP government of selectively targeting senior Congress leaders while allegedly allowing Akali leaders to escape accountability. He claimed that several cases registered against Congress leaders were later quashed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Warring further alleged that the recent summoning of individuals in connection with the sacrilege investigations was aimed at creating a public impression that the government was taking action.
He also claimed that the government had kept the sacrilege issue on the back burner and revived it only after Sri Akal Takht Sahib declared Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann as 'Guru Dokhi'.
The Congress leader alleged that the AAP government was attempting to exert pressure on the Shiromani Akali Dal leadership while seeking a political understanding with the party. He maintained that had the government been serious about ensuring justice, it would have acted much earlier instead of reopening the matter towards the end of its tenure.
