MLA Bhullar unveils Bhagat Singh life-size statue at historic Multani Gate
Ferozepur, September 28, 2026: On 119th birth anniversary, a life-size statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh was unveiled at the historic Multani Gate Chowk in Ferozepur on Monday by Ferozepur Urban MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar under the ‘Rangla Punjab’ scheme.
Paying tribute to Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary, Bhullar said the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for India’s freedom would continue to inspire generations. He said the Punjab government was committed to building a prosperous Punjab in keeping with the dreams of the freedom fighters.
Bhagat Singh remains one of the most revered figures of India’s freedom struggle. Born on September 28, 1907, he became a symbol of youthful courage and resistance to British rule. He was executed on March 23, 1931, along with Rajguru and Sukhdev, at the age of 23. His ideas, writings and supreme sacrifice continue to inspire people across the country.
Bhullar said development and beautification works in Ferozepur city were being carried out on a continuous basis. He said the city’s development would remain a priority and efforts would continue to improve its appearance and civic infrastructure.
Ferozepur is already known as the ‘Land of Martyrs’, with Hussainiwala holding a special place in the history of India’s freedom struggle. The last rites of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were performed at Hussainiwala, where a memorial stands today in their memory. The site also houses the memorial of freedom movement revolutionary Batukeshwar Dutt, while a memorial dedicated to Raj Mata Vidyavati, the mother of Bhagat Singh, further adds to the historical significance of Hussainiwala.
The unveiling of the statue at one of the city’s historic landmarks marks a tribute to Bhagat Singh and his enduring legacy in the freedom struggle.
