Una (Himachal Pradesh), October 9, 2026: A pregnant woman and her unborn baby died during delivery at the Regional Hospital in Una, Himachal Pradesh, triggering protests by the family, which alleged negligence in treatment. The hospital management has initiated an inquiry into the incident.
The deceased, identified as Reena, a resident of Upper Arniala, had reportedly been admitted to the hospital for around three days after experiencing pregnancy-related complications.
According to her family, her condition worsened on Friday, following which she was taken to the operation theatre at the hospital’s Mother and Child Health (MCH) facility. Despite medical efforts, both the woman and her unborn baby could not be saved.
Family Alleges Negligence, Demands Investigation
The deaths triggered grief and anger among the family members, who questioned the treatment provided to the woman and alleged medical negligence. The allegations have not yet been independently established.
The situation became tense on the hospital premises following the incident, prompting the police to reach the spot and bring the situation under control.
