Chandigarh, October 12, 2026: The Special CBI Court in Chandigarh has dismissed a petition filed by Rajbir Singh Ghuman, OSD to the Chief Minister, against the CBI, seeking initiation of defamation/contempt proceedings against the concerned officials over the alleged leaking of an FIR to the media and alleged violation of court directions.
The court of Special Judge Bhavna Jain held that the CBI’s act of uploading the FIR on its official website did not amount to a deliberate or wilful violation of the court’s directions.
Operative Part of the order:
In view of the above said circumstances, this court is of the view that the act of the CBI officials in uploading the FIR on its website did not amount to willful breach of the directions of the court. ‘No case of willful disobedience’ on the part of the CBI is established, what to talk about ‘clear case of disobedience’. Once the objective of withholding the uploading owing to the operational reason was achieved, the FIR was promptly uploaded as per directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
Conclusion:
In view of the above said discussion, the application being devoid of any merit is dismissed.
