Canada: RCMP announces largest drug seizure of its history
Surrey, November 22, 2024: Surrey RCMP has announced one of the largest drug seizures in its history. This has been announced after an yearlong investigation by the Surrey RCMP Drug Unit into a criminal organization. Seizure includes drugs fire arms and cash apart from vehicles
RCMP had began this investigation in June 2023. It carried out searches in Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Vancouver, and Richmond. Agency has recovered a staggering haul of drugs, firearms, cash, and vehicles.
Seized Items Include:
– Drugs:
– 36.4 kilograms of Fentanyl
– 23 kilograms of MDMA
– 20.4 kilograms of Cocaine
– 23 kilograms of Methamphetamine
– 1,300 counterfeit and prescription pills
– 16 kilograms of Benzodiazepines
– 8.7 kilograms of Xylazine (“tranq”)
– Firearms and Equipment:
– 6 prohibited firearms (including 2 ghost guns and 4 smuggled weapons)
– Ammunition, magazines, and body armour
– Vehicles and Cash:
– $119,000 in Canadian cash
– A 2024 Acura MDX, a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a 2020 Kia Forte
Three accused aged 24 to 47, have been taken into custody.
