Nijjar Murder Case: Goldy Brar’s alleged audio claim surfaces; BJP’s R.P. Singh questions Trudeau

New Delhi/Ottawa, August 23, 2026: A fresh development has emerged in the 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada after an alleged audio recording surfaced in which Canada-based gangster Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar is purportedly heard claiming responsibility for the murder.
The audio clip has been circulating on social media and has also been reported by several media outlets. However, its authenticity has not been independently verified, and the claims made in the recording should therefore be treated as allegations until authenticated.
The development comes weeks after US authorities charged jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his alleged associate Goldy Brar with ordering Nijjar’s killing.
According to the US indictment, Bishnoi allegedly directed the operation while Brar was accused of managing the gang’s North American operations. The charges remain allegations and have not been proved in court.
The case has also taken a significant turn in Canada. In July, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Deputy Commissioner Lisa Moreland said investigators had found no evidence linking Indian government officials to Nijjar’s killing.
The statement came nearly three years after former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had alleged a potential link between Indian government agents and the murder — an allegation strongly rejected by New Delhi.
R.P. Singh questions Trudeau
Reacting to the latest developments, BJP national spokesperson R.P. Singh questioned Trudeau over his earlier allegations against India.
Singh said India had maintained from the beginning that the Indian government had no role in Nijjar’s killing and questioned why the Trudeau government had accused India before the investigation established the facts.
He also raised questions over who planned the murder, who allegedly ordered it, who carried it out and what the actual motive was.
Singh called for the investigation to proceed on the basis of evidence and for the actual perpetrators to be brought to justice through cooperation between the relevant investigative agencies.
The alleged Goldy Brar audio has added a new dimension to the case, but its authenticity and evidentiary value will have to be established through an independent investigation. Meanwhile, the US charges and the RCMP’s statement have already shifted the focus of the case towards alleged organised-crime links rather than any established involvement of Indian government officials.
