New Delhi, October 22, 2026: Senior Congress leader and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi has unveiled her forthcoming memoir, Belonging: A Journey of Love, through a video shared on social media, offering a glimpse into her personal journey.
The book is scheduled for worldwide release on November 10, 2026. It promises to offer an intimate account of Gandhi’s life, from her childhood in Italy and her move to India to her marriage to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and her decades-long association with Indian politics.
According to the publisher’s description, the memoir explores themes of love, identity, duty, loss and the meaning of home, while offering a personal perspective on India’s political and social journey.
In the video, Sonia Gandhi is seen presenting the book and sharing a copy with her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as the publishers hand her a copy.
Sonia Gandhi, who became Congress president in 1998 and led the party for nearly two decades, has been one of the most influential figures in Indian politics. She declined to become Prime Minister after the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance won the 2004 general election and instead supported Dr Manmohan Singh.
The memoir is expected to provide readers with a more personal account of the experiences, relationships and defining moments that shaped her life in India.
