30 Rural TB survivors trained as Community Champions in Ferozepur to Support TB-Free India Mission
Ferozepur, June 18, 2025: A special training programme aimed at empowering tuberculosis (TB) survivors as TB Champions was organized by TB Alert India (TBAI) in collaboration with Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT) under the Integrated Measures for Prevention and Care in TB (IMPACT) India – Community Connect for TB Elimination initiative.
TBAI focuses on a holistic approach to TB care, addressing not just medical, but also psychological, social, and economic challenges that hinder testing and treatment.
Dr. Amanpreet Arora, District Coordinator, organized the training session, while Neeraj Sinha, State Lead from Chandigarh overseeing the project in Punjab, co-hosted the event.
The event was held at the Home for the Blind, Ferozepur, and saw the participation of 30 individuals. These participants, all TB survivors, were trained to become TB Champions, enabling them to spread awareness about TB symptoms and dangers in their respective villages. The goal is to enhance early detection and treatment and move towards the collective vision of a TB-free India.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Civil Surgeon, supported by Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and the District TB Officer (DTO), Ferozepur. A preliminary meeting with the Civil Surgeon and district SMOs was also held, where the TBAI initiative was discussed in detail.
