Chandigarh, December 26, 2025: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema has said that at 11% Punjab’s revenue growth is much more than the National average. National average is 7% only.
On GST collection, Punjab Finance Minister said, "GST was implemented nationwide in 2017 under the 'One Nation, One Tax' principle. For the past five years, from 2017 to 2022, the Congress party was in power, and in those five years, they collected Rs 112,000 crore in revenue. But our government, in just three and a half years, has already collected over Rs 116,000 crore in revenue. This means our annual revenue has never fallen below 11%. We are consistently growing at a rate of over 11%, while at the national level, the growth rate is 7%. Since our AAP government came to power in Punjab in 2022, we have worked with complete honesty. We established a Tax Intelligence Unit. We collaborated with IIT Hyderabad, purchased nine modules from them, and implemented them in the department. We did many things in the department, which led to an increase in our GST revenue. We introduced a new scheme, "Bring the Bill, Get a Reward," to encourage people to get and keep their bills. If we talk about excise, our revenue has been consistently increasing by over 10% for the last three years..."
