Selected children to be awarded by the President

Chandigarh, June 23, 2024 - The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development has invited nominations for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) by July 31, 2024. Under the PMRBP, children aged between 5 and 18 years as of July 31, who have achieved exceptional accomplishments in bravery, sports, social science, science and technology, environment, and arts and culture will be awarded by the President at a ceremony to be held in January 2025. The awards will be announced on December 26, 2024, on the occasion of National Veer Bal Diwas.
Sharing more details, a spokesperson of the department said that the PMRBP is divided into two categories: the Bal Veerta Puraskar (Child Bravery Award) and the Bal Utkrishtta Puraskar (Child Excellence Award).
A total of 25 children will be selected across both categories. Each award will include a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, a medal, and a commendation certificate.
Sharing the details about the selection process, the spokesperson said that applications will first be screened by a screening committee. Following that, the final names will be selected by the National Committee.
The spokesperson further shared that for the PMRBP nominations can be made by the state government, union territory administration, district collector/district magistrate, Panchayati Raj institutions, all central and state school boards, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights, National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development, Ministry of Social Justice, Department of School Education under the Ministry of Education, all state departments of school education, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports Department, Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Press Information Bureau including the National Selection Committee.
