Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organizes Convocation for 2024 batch

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), March 8, 2025: Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University held its Convocation on March 08, 2025. Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria conferred the degrees to the graduates of the University and delivered the Convocation Address. Prof. Prit Pal Sing, Vice-Chancellor of the University presided over the Convocation.
The University awarded Governor medals to three students who scored highest CGPA while 33 Research scholars received their PhD degrees.
Besides this, more than 700 students of the University received Postgraduate and Graduate degrees and twenty Seven students were awarded University medals.
In his address, Gulab Chand Kataria motivated the students to commit themselves to academics and to work for a bright future. He asked them to take inspiration from the sacrifice of the younger Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.
He inspired them to follow Sahibzadas's determination and steadfastness in their religion. He congratulated the University and hoped that it would continue its march towards excellence and produce good, knowledgeable and thinking citizens.He congratulated the students for their academic achievements and added that the University postgraduates and graduates would bring glory and honour not only to themselves but to the University and their parents as well. He added that the students should feel lucky that they had got an opportunity to study in an institution which was primed for excellence.
He stressed that the students of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, which seeks inspiration from the highest values enshrined in the Holy Granth, have a greater responsibility to be the torch bearers in the troubled times.
In doing so he added, they can bring laurels to their alma mater, Punjab and the country. He remarked that a university is a vibrant place for not only dissemination of existing knowledge, but for generation of fresh knowledge as well. He expressed his satisfaction at how well this University is contributing in this regard. He wished the students a bright future.
The Vice chancellor of the University, Dr Prit Pal Singh said that it is a matter of great pride and honour for the University that the Hon'ble Governor of Punjab himself was there to bless the students. He presented the annual report of the University and expressed his delight over the achievements of the faculty and the students.
He stressed that the University is dedicated to providing the best possible environment to its students. He added that in order to attain excellence, the University is promoting research in a big way. He expressed the hope that the University would certainly and soon emerge as the one of the best higher education institutions in the country.
Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs of the University proposed a vote of thanks. S. Harpal Singh Bhatia, Trust Secretary, members of the trust - Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni, S. Jarnail Singh Dograwala, S. Jasmair Singh Lachru, S. Surjit Singh Garhi, S. Ranjit Singh Kahlon, Senators of the University - Dr. Gurmohan Singh Walia, S. Amarjeet Singh Chawla, S. Ravinder Singh Chakk were present. S. Jagdeep Singh Cheema, S. Avtar Singh Riya, and Principal Dr. Lakhbir Singh also graced the occasion with their presence.
