State-level training planning workshop held at PAU

Ludhiana (Punjab), March 4, 2025: The Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana successfully hosted a State-Level Training Planning Workshop for 2025-26 on February 27, 2025.
The event brought together PAU experts, extension scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), and representatives from agricultural and allied departments to discuss and finalize the upcoming training programs for KVKs across the state.
Dr. M S Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, shared his valuable insights on the significance of structured training programs in advancing agricultural knowledge and skill development.
He said that this workshop is planned to provide a valuable platform for agricultural scientists and extension experts to exchange ideas and ensure that the upcoming training initiatives of PAU for capacity building and skill development of the farmers, rural youth and extension functionaries are well-structured, relevant, and impactful.
Dr Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director of Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana also graced the workshop with his presence and insightful inputs on the evolving training requirements of farmers in the field of animal sciences.
The workshop commenced with a formal welcome address and presentation on the annual training program of KVKs of Punjab for 2025-26 by Dr. GPS Sodhi, Additional Director of Extension Education.
A key highlight of the event was the presentation of the proposed short-term, in-service and vocational training programs to be organized by the KVKs which set the stage for a detailed discussion on training requirements of farmers, rural youth and extension functionaries of agricultural and allied departments. The discussion emphasized the evolving needs of the farming community and strategies to enhance skill development among stakeholders.
The Skill Development Centre’s annual training programme was presented by Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director, SDC offering insights into new skill-oriented initiatives.
This was followed by an extensive discussion on On-Farm Trials (OFTs) and Front-Line Demonstrations (FLDs), moderated by key experts covering different agricultural domains of Agronomy, Soil Science, and Forestry by Dr AS Brar, Associate Director, KVK Moga; Fruit Science, Vegetable Science and Floriculture by Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Associate Director, KVK Amritsar; Plant Protection by Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director, KVK Hoshiarpur; and Agricultural Engineering by Dr. Ravinder Singh Chhina, Prof. Agricultural Engineering, KVK Gurdaspur.
During the afternoon session, presentations on OFTs and FLDs in the disciplines of Animal Sciences, Extension Education, and Community Science were given by Dr. Satbir Singh (Deputy Director, KVK Ropar), Dr. Karamjit Sharma (Associate Director, KVK Muktsar), and Dr. Parminder Kaur, Professor, CS, KVK Moga, respectively.
The workshop concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Tarsem Singh Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education, appreciating the participation and contributions of all attendees.
