GNDU’s 4th Annual Theatre Festival begins; V-C Prof. Karamjeet Singh inaugurates four-day event

Amritsar (Punjab), April 1, 2025: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) commenced its 4th Annual Theatre Festival, a four-day celebration of drama and performing arts, with an inauguration by Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh at the Dashmesh Auditorium.The festival opened with the play "Natak Paedan," performed by the university's Drama Club and Awaaz Rangmanch Toli.
Written by Jatinder Barar and directed by Kanwal Randhe, the play portrays the struggles of an underprivileged child, highlighting societal inequalities and the hardships faced by those deprived of necessities.
The cast, including Shabiyata Jaryal, Parinur, Karamjit Sandhu, Kartik Kapoor, Navdeep, Pushkin, Sarath, and Karan Gill, delivered a powerful performance that resonated with the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Karamjeet Singh emphasized the university’s commitment to holistic student development, including performing arts.He encouraged students to participate in theatre and assured them of the institution’s continued support.
Budhi Raj Singh, ADC Jalandhar Rural, also attended the event and praised the play, urging young people to use their creativity for societal change.Dr. Sunil Kumar, in charge of the Drama Club, expressed gratitude to the attendees, while Harpreet Singh served as the event convener.
The performance was well-received by students, faculty, and theater enthusiasts alike.
