UGC invites nominations for Sardar Patel National Unity Award 2025

New Delhi, July 1, 2025: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a circular inviting nominations for the Sardar Patel National Unity Award 2025, India’s highest civilian award for promoting national unity and integrity.
In a letter dated June 27, 2025, UGC Secretary Prof. Manish R. Joshi called on all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to disseminate the information widely and encourage nominations of individuals or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to national integration.
Instituted by the Government of India, the award will be announced on October 31, the National Unity Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Eligibility and Nomination Process:
- All Indian citizens and organizations, regardless of religion, caste, gender, or occupation, are eligible.
- Nominations will be accepted only through the official Rashtriya Puraskar portal: http://awards.gov.in
- The nomination window is open from June 1 to July 31, 2025.
- Nominations must include all relevant information as per the format available on the portal.
Authorities who already have a login ID and password from previous years should use the same. Those needing access can email sopub@nic.in via their official email ID to obtain login credentials.
The UGC has urged all HEIs to actively participate and ensure suitable nominations are submitted before the deadline.
