GGDSD College hosts lecture on Traditional Media Vs Social Media under PM-Usha scheme

Chandigarh, September 20, 2025: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College (GGDSD), under the PM-Usha Scheme, organized an invited lecture on “Traditional Media vs New Media” today.
Ms. Manokriti Bedi, Editor of Manifest International and Chief Editor of Glimpse Magazine, was the resource person. Nearly 200 students attended the session, which aimed to bridge the industry–academia gap and provide participants with valuable insights into the evolving media landscape.
Welcoming the gathering, College Principal Dr. Ajay Sharma emphasized key aspects of media, including ownership structures and their potential impacts. He encouraged students to become independent thinkers while navigating the digital era.
Ms. Bedi highlighted the risks of misinformation in content strategies and lead generation. She stressed the importance of fact-checking and responsible reporting. Students gained fresh perspectives on evolving media practices, critical analysis of narratives, and meaningful engagement with media content.
Dr. Priya Chadha, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, underlined the interdisciplinary nature of journalism courses and urged students to cultivate newspaper reading habits and use social media responsibly.
The lecture concluded with an interactive session where students discussed the future of print media. The event was coordinated by Ms. Ambika Sharma, faculty member of the department.
