Harpreet Sandhu unveils ‘The Heritage Tourism Treasures of Ludhiana’ to promote local heritage on World Tourism Day

Ludhiana (Punjab, September 27, 2025: On the occasion of World Tourism Day 2025, State Information Commissioner Punjab Harpreet Sandhu, along with Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Himanshu Jain, IAS, and Vice Chancellor PAU Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, released a pictorial brochure and documentary titled “The Heritage Tourism Treasures of Ludhiana”.
The release showcases Ludhiana’s significant heritage tourism sites, including the 200-year-old Maharaja Ranjit Singh Memorial, Bassian Kothi in Raikot, the Museum of Social History of Rural Punjab at PAU Campus, and the Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of these cultural landmarks and promote tourism among local residents and the younger generation.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain acknowledged the efforts of State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu, highlighting that the project preserves Ludhiana’s cultural identity and inspires residents and visitors alike.
State Information Commissioner Harpreet Sandhu said, “The idea behind compiling these brochures and the documentary is to present Ludhiana’s historical and cultural treasures in an engaging way. These heritage sites are silent witnesses to our glorious past and must be preserved and celebrated. We hope this initiative encourages people to visit, value, and promote these locations, contributing to sustainable heritage tourism.”
Vice Chancellor PAU Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal added that the initiative would help promote Ludhiana’s tourism locations within schools, colleges, and universities.
The event was also attended by Registrar PAU Dr. Rishipal Singh, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Amarjit Bains, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagraon Kulpreet Singh.
The release of “The Heritage Tourism Treasures of Ludhiana” aligns with this year’s World Tourism Day theme, “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation”, emphasizing heritage preservation, cultural pride, and sustainable tourism promotion across the district.
