CGC Landran bags the overall winners’ trophy at IKGPTU Athletic Meet
CGCian Vivek Banerjee sets new record in 200m and 400m races

Chandigarh, March 23, 2026: CGC Landran emerged as the overall winner in both boys’ and girls’ categories at the 27th IKGPTU Inter-College Athletic Meet held at Akal College, Mastuana Sahib, Punjab.
Competing against participants from around 31 colleges and over 450 student athletes, athletes from the institution delivered outstanding performances across track and field events to secure the winners’ trophy in both boys’ and girls’ categories.
In individual performances, CGC Landran’s Vivek Banerjee set new meet records in both the 200-meter race (clocking 22.66 seconds) and the 400-meter race (clocking 50.8 seconds).
The boys’ team won a total of 20 medals, including 9 gold, 9 silver and 2 bronze, with notable performances across sprint, middle-distance, relay, hurdles and field events.
Key results included gold medals in the 1500m race, 4x100m relay and discus throw, along with podium finishes in the 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 10,000m race, hammer throw and 4x400m relay.
The team also recorded stellar performances in long-distance and field events, contributing to its overall tally. The girls’ team secured 18 medals, comprising 10 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze, with standout performances in hurdles, relays and field events. Gold medals were won in the 100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay, high jump, long jump, triple jump and shot put.
The team also registered podium finishes in sprint events, relay races and discus throw. Congratulating the students on their performance, Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Campus Director, CGC Landran said that the achievement reflects the dedication and discipline of the athletes, as well as the consistent efforts of the college’s sports department.
