Civil Defence training seminar held at SBS State University
Ferozepur, September 30, 2026: A Civil Defence training seminar was organised at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBS State University), to sensitise students about safety measures and rescue techniques to be adopted during emergencies and disasters. The programme was held under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma.
The seminar was organised in accordance with the directions of Ram Singh, DGP-cum-Commandant General, Punjab Home Guards and Director, Civil Defence, Punjab, and under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Controller, Civil Defence, Ferozepur, Dr. Deepashikha Sharma. The programme was led by Gurlavdeep Singh, Battalion Commander, Punjab Home Guards, Ferozepur-cum-Additional Controller, Civil Defence.
During the seminar, Parminder Singh Bath, Store Superintendent, Civil Defence, Ferozepur, briefed the students about the importance of Civil Defence, emergency response measures, the air-raid warning system and the functioning of sirens.
The students were also provided practical training in safety measures during natural disasters such as earthquakes, rescue techniques, first aid and emergency evacuation and rescue operations.
Anish Gupta, Company Commander, Civil Defence, Ferozepur, and team member Prateek Monga (DR) were also present. The students participated enthusiastically in the training and took part in various practical exercises.
The seminar organisers Gurjeevan Singh and Gurpreet Singh, along with Dean, Student Welfare, Dr. Sunny Behl, and Programme Officer Yashpal, were also present on the occasion.
Campus Registrar Dr. Rajiv Arora thanked the Civil Defence team for conducting the training programme. He said that such programmes play an important role in preparing students to respond effectively to emergency situations and encouraging them to become responsible and well-prepared citizens.
