Sangrur (Punjab), May 11, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday paid obeisance at Gurdwara Jyotisar Sahib and joined the Sangat in offering Ardas to express gratitude for the enactment of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act 2026.
During the religious gathering held after the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the Chief Minister said the newly enacted law against beadbi (sacrilege) of Guru Granth Sahib has brought immense satisfaction and relief to the Sikh community and would act as a strong deterrent against future incidents of desecration.
Sharing details of the visit on social media platform X, CM Bhagwant Mann said he sought blessings for Punjab’s prosperity, peace and the vision of rebuilding a vibrant “Rangla Punjab.” He described the passage of the legislation as a service entrusted to him by the Almighty for protecting the sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Addressing the media later, the Chief Minister said thanksgiving religious gatherings were being organised across Punjab following the passage of the law, reflecting the emotional connection people have with the issue.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to preserving Sikh values and religious sentiments, CM Bhagwant Mann said strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in sacrilegious acts. He maintained that the amended law provides for stricter punishment and sends a strong message against beadbi incidents.
The Chief Minister also launched a sharp political attack on the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that major decisions in the country were increasingly being influenced by the White House.
Without naming specific developments, he claimed that even issues related to the India-Pakistan situation had seen announcements emerging from the United States, raising concerns about India’s sovereignty.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CM Bhagwant Mann said those claiming to make India a “Vishav Guru” were instead turning the country into a “Vishav Chela” by allegedly following directions from abroad.
He also criticised the Centre’s economic policies, particularly foreign direct investment in the defence sector and the proposed India-US trade agreement, claiming these could negatively affect Indian agriculture and farmers.
Commenting on recent Enforcement Directorate actions in Punjab, the Chief Minister alleged that central agencies were being misused to target opposition leaders and suppress democratic voices. He asserted that Punjabis have historically resisted pressure tactics and would continue to do so.
