Railway observes ‘World Environment Day’ awareness across railway stations
Ferozepur, May 18, 2026: Ferozepur Railway Division is observing the ‘World Environment Day’ campaign from May 15 to June 5 through a series of daily awareness activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable practices among passengers.
As part of the campaign, awareness programmes were organised on May 18 at major railway stations including Ferozepur Cantt, Jalandhar City, Jalandhar Cantt, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Phagwara and Beas. The campaign was conducted through banners, pamphlets and public address system announcements.
Rail passengers were distributed informative pamphlets and encouraged to carry their own water bottles while travelling. Officials informed passengers that carrying reusable water bottles ensures easy availability of clean drinking water during journeys, reduces the need to repeatedly purchase plastic bottles and contributes towards environmental protection.
Passengers were also sensitised about the harmful effects of single-use plastic and motivated to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
DRM stated that such awareness initiatives are being conducted regularly during the campaign period to promote environmental responsibility among railway users and staff.
