SBSSU hosts expert lecture on 'Govt Sector Job Opportunities'

Ferozepur, August 18, 2026: The Chemical Engineering Students Society (ChESS), Department of Chemical Engineering, Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), Ferozepur, organized an expert lecture for students on “Opportunities for Jobs in the Government Sector” on August 18, 2026. The lecture was coordinated by Surinder Singh, Coordinator, ChESS, and delivered by Dr. Narender Singh, Financial Advisor, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India.
Dr. Narender Singh, who has served in 13 different Government Departments and possesses extensive experience in public administration and government services, provided valuable insights into the diverse career opportunities available in the Government sector. He apprised the students about various government job opportunities, competitive examinations, eligibility criteria, recruitment procedures, preparation strategies and long-term career prospects. At the outset, Dr. Pankaj Kalra introduced the eminent speaker and highlighted the importance of providing students with practical guidance regarding career opportunities beyond the conventional placement avenues.
The lecture was attended by around 10 faculty members and 70 students from B.Tech. Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Agriculture programmes. Dr. Narender Singh engaged actively with the participants and addressed their queries regarding government recruitment and career planning. He also guided the students about various online portals and digital platforms through which they can access authentic information regarding government vacancies, examinations and recruitment opportunities.
The interactive session proved highly informative and motivating for the students, enabling them to better understand the opportunities and pathways available for pursuing careers in the Government sector.
The programme concluded with the presentation of a token of gratitude to Dr. Narender Singh by Dr. Rajeev Kumar Garg, Dean Academics, SBSSU, in appreciation of his valuable time, expert guidance and interaction with the students. The event was appreciated by the faculty and students and provided a meaningful platform for career awareness and guidance.
