DIET hosts Orientation Workshop for 100 Science Teachers on Children’s Science Congress

Ferozepur, August 18, 2026: A one-day district-level orientation workshop on the 32nd National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026-27 was successfully organised at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Ferozepur, under the directions of the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh.
The workshop was organised by the office of the District Education Officer (Secondary Education), Ferozepur, under the guidance of District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Munila Arora and Dy DEO(SE) Dr. Satinder Singh. Principal DIET Seema Panchhi extended special support as Venue In-charge for the smooth conduct of the programme.
District Coordinator of the Children’s Science Congress Sandeep Kumar informed the participants that the theme of this year’s Congress is “Science and Innovation for Sustainability”. Detailed information was provided to teachers on five sub-themes, including waste management — reduce, reuse, recover, recycle and redesign; improvement in energy — research, experimentation, enhancement and development; water conservation and conservation techniques; food, agriculture and health; and the use of Indian Knowledge Systems for sustainability. Students in the age groups of 10-14 years (Junior Group) and 14-17 years (Senior Group) will participate in the Congress.
District Coordinator Sandeep Kumar (BRC) and District Academic Coordinator Gurpreet Singh (BRC) played a key role in the successful organisation of the workshop. Resource persons Rakesh Mahar, Science Master, SMIS Tara Singh Wala, and Yogesh Talwar, Science Master, SSS Dhira Ghara, provided detailed guidance to teachers on preparing projects, selecting appropriate sub-themes and understanding the competition process.
Around 100 science teachers from across the district participated in the orientation workshop. The teachers were encouraged to promote scientific temper among students at the school level and motivate maximum participation in the National Children’s Science Congress.
