Vigilance Bureau arrests railway employee for accepting ₹40,000 bribe in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 8, 2026: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, Ferozepur Range, has arrested a railway employee for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant in connection with a pending departmental matter.
According to the press note issued by the Vigilance Bureau, a case was registered on October 8, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
The accused has been identified as Hardip Singh, son of Gurm... Singh, resident of village Tok Harihar, district Ferozepur. He was allegedly caught accepting ₹40,000 as illegal gratification.
The complainant had approached the Vigilance Bureau alleging that the accused was demanding money in connection with an official matter. Acting on the complaint, the Bureau verified the allegations and laid a trap.
The accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of official witnesses. The Vigilance Bureau has taken the accused into custody and further investigation in the case is underway.
The Bureau appealed to the public to report any demand for bribes or corruption-related activities to the Vigilance Bureau.
