"Those standing with him...": Former Haryana CM Khattar blasts INDIA leaders over Ramlila rally for Kejriwal
Karnal (Haryana), April 1, 2024 (ANI): Former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said the Opposition leaders who stood in support of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the Ramlila Maidan on Sunday would suffer bruising losses in the Lok Sabha elections as the 'public knows everything'.
Weighing in on the rally in the national capital on Sunday, the former Haryana CM told reporters on Sunday, "Rallies can take place. However, what they (Opposition leaders) don't know is that the public now knows everything. This is a leader (Kejriwal), who is neck-deep in corruption, the ED has furnished evidence against him (in the liquor policy case) and he is currently in custody. The court refused to grant him bail on the weight of the evidence against him. Hence, whoever stands in support of him, will lose whatever they are left with."
Meanwhile, addressing the people at the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan earlier today, former Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena (UBT) supremo, Uddhav Thackeray, called BJP leaders 'thugs', saying the need of the hour was to bring the Opposition coalition to power in the country.
He emphasized the need for a coalition government, stating that one party or one person's government was 'dangerous' for the country.
"Now, their (BJP's) dream is to cross 400 (seats). It is time this one party or one person's government goes as it has become dangerous for the country. We need to bring a coalition government now," Uddhav said.
In a show of strength against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam and several other issues, the leaders of the INDIA bloc gathered at the Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.
Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other INDIA bloc leaders were present at the rally.
The event also featured Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, party leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal and former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren's wife, Kalpana Soren.
AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, also attended the INDIA bloc rally at the Ramlila Maidan.Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 and is in the custody of the central agency till April 1. (ANI)
