Firozpur Rail Division collects ₹2.43 Crore in revenue through ticket checking in January
Firozpur, February 4, 2025: The ticket-checking staff of Firozpur Division conducted intensive ticket inspections in trains to curb unauthorized and irregular travel, ensuring a comfortable journey and better services for genuine rail passengers. During January 2025, a total of 25,390 passengers were found traveling without tickets or with irregular tickets, leading to the collection of ₹2.43 crore in fines. This revenue boost reflects the commendable efforts of the ticket-checking staff.
Railway officials also conducted surprise ticket-checking drives to prevent unauthorized travel, advising passengers to carry valid tickets for their journey.
To maintain cleanliness at railway stations and raise awareness among the public about keeping stations litter-free, regular inspections were carried out at major stations of the division. As a result, fines totalling ₹99,500 were imposed on 584 individuals for littering under the Anti-Littering Act in January.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Sanjay Sahu stated that the ticket-checking campaign will continue, to achieve zero ticketless travel in the Firozpur Division. The primary objective is to improve ticket sales and ensure that no passenger travels without a valid ticket.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Parmdeep Singh Saini emphasized that the ticket-checking staff not only contribute to railway revenue but also fulfil their social responsibility by assisting passengers. To boost their morale, railway employees demonstrating exceptional performance are regularly honoured with appreciation certificates.
