Senior IPS Officer Nageswara Rao Takes Charge as Punjab Vigilance Bureau Chief, Pledges Zero Tolerance on Corruption

Chandigarh, February 18, 2025 – Senior IPS officer G. Nageswara Rao, serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), formally assumed charge as the Chief Director of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) at Vigilance Bhawan, SAS Nagar today.
Reaffirming Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to a corruption-free Punjab, Rao underscored the state government’s zero-tolerance policy, vowing stringent action against corruption across all government departments.
In his first address as VB Chief, Rao emphasized the need for administrative efficiency and transparency, ensuring swift and thorough investigations into all corruption-related cases and Vigilance Enquiries (VEs). He further assured that cases would be pursued rigorously in the courts to secure strict punishment for those found guilty.
Sending a strong message to officials, Rao warned that no officer within the Vigilance Bureau would be spared if found engaging in corrupt practices. He urged vigilance officers to remain proactive, diligent, and uncompromising in their efforts to root out corruption.
Recognizing the importance of public participation, he encouraged citizens to report corruption cases via the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line, fostering a more transparent and accountable governance system.
To review ongoing vigilance operations, Rao has scheduled a high-level meeting with all VB SSPs on February 19 at SAS Nagar to assess pending cases and vigilance inquiries.
