War Against Drug: Faridkot Police, Administration demolish drug traffickers's illegal encroachment
189 drug traffickers arrested in two weeks, Rs 4.33 crore worth of property seized

Kotkapura (Punjab), March 15 – The Punjab government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign is making significant strides in cracking down on drug traffickers.
In a major action led by the Faridkot Police and district administration, illegal properties and encroachments belonging to notorious drug peddlers in Kotkapura were demolished.
With public support growing, residents of Kotkapura took to the streets, raising slogans in favor of the Punjab government and expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for his decisive action against drug networks.
Major Operation Against Drug Traffickers
The operation was executed under the leadership of SSP Dr. Pragya Jain, in coordination with SDM Varinder Singh, municipal authorities, and local police. The crackdown targeted individuals with a history of drug-related crimes, including:
1. Alla Rakha (Indira Colony, Kotkapura)
- Case No. 102 (2010) – Attempt to murder (IPC 307)
- Case No. 50 (2019) – Theft (IPC 379)
- Case No. 36 (2021) – NDPS Act (Drug Trafficking)
2. Lajja (Indira Colony, Tibba Basti, Kotkapura)
- Case No. 108 (2019) – Assault, criminal intimidation
- Case No. 143 (2022) – NDPS Act (Drug Offense)
- Case No. 156 (2024) – Criminal conspiracy (BNS 126(2), 115(2))
3. Nisha Rani (Tibba Basti, Kotkapura)
- Case No. 25 (2025) – NDPS Act (Drug Trafficking)
4. Sona Devi (Mohalla Chajjgharh, Tibba Basti, Kotkapura)
- Case No. 37 (2025) – NDPS Act (Drug Offense)

Illegal Structures Bulldozed
SDM Varinder Singh confirmed that the demolished structures were built on municipal land, and despite prior warnings, the encroachers refused to vacate.
“The administration had issued two prior notices, but they ignored them. Bulldozers were deployed to clear the illegal occupation, ensuring that no criminal network operates freely in Kotkapura,” he stated.
Public Applauds Punjab Government’s Actions
The residents of Kotkapura praised the state’s aggressive stance against drug cartels, calling it a much-needed step to clean up Punjab.
Chanting "Punjab Government Zindabad!", locals expressed their support for law enforcement and thanked the Chief Minister for delivering on his promise to eliminate drug trade from the state.
Government’s Commitment to Rehabilitation
Officials reiterated that besides stringent action against traffickers, the government is also focusing on rehabilitating affected individuals through medical care and social reintegration programs.
