Chandigarh, March 15, 2025 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s war on drugs in Punjab has yielded significant breakthroughs, with over 2,049 arrests, 1,488 NDPS cases registered, and 1,270 kg of narcotics confiscated in just 15 days.
Punjab Police, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, has also seized ₹63 lakh in drug money, 7.16 lakh illegal pills, and demolished 28 properties linked to drug trafficking.
Announcing these results, AAP Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs, warning smugglers: “Quit your trade or leave Punjab.”

Cracking Down on Supply, Cutting Demand
Minister Arora outlined the dual-pronged strategy adopted by the AAP government—aggressive enforcement against drug networks combined with demand-reduction initiatives to prevent addiction.
? Massive Police Action: The state has intensified crackdowns on suppliers, traffickers, and their financial networks, leading to a wave of arrests and seizures.
? Community Mobilization: Civil society, youth groups, and educational institutions are actively engaged in spreading awareness and rehabilitating addicts. “This is not just a government fight—this is Punjab’s fight,” Arora stated.
? Dismantling the Political-Drug Nexus: The Minister highlighted that AAP has disrupted the deep-rooted collusion between drug cartels, corrupt politicians, and officials, which flourished under previous governments.
A Movement Led by the People
Arora emphasized that the fight against drugs goes beyond law enforcement—it requires collective action from society. Parents, teachers, religious leaders, and community organizations have played a crucial role in educating youth, supporting rehabilitation, and eliminating drug abuse at its roots.
“This fight is not just about arrests and seizures—it’s about securing the future of Punjab,” Arora declared. “With the people’s support, we will build a drug-free Punjab and ensure no young life is lost to addiction.”
The AAP government’s hard-hitting stance has already instilled fear among drug traffickers and restored hope among citizens. Minister Arora urged all Punjabis to join hands in this mission, ensuring a safer, healthier, and drug-free future for the state.
