Chandigarh, March 16, 2025 – In a significant development, Punjab Police is gearing up for strong action in connection with the Ajnala police station attack case.
All prisoners associated with the case, currently lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail, will be brought back to Punjab starting tomorrow following the removal of the National Security Act (NSA) against them.
The attack on Ajnala Police Station was a grave incident in which a mob of approximately 200-250 people, led by Amritpal and armed with deadly weapons, stormed the premises to forcibly free one of their associates from police custody. The Punjab Police has been investigating the matter and is now ready to take decisive steps against those involved.
Officials have confirmed that arrangements are being made for the transfer of the detainees, and further legal proceedings will follow once they are back in Punjab.
Apart from Amritpal Singh, Papalpreet Singh, and Jeet Singh, no order has been issued yet to extend the NSA on the remaining detainees.Notably, the NSA imposed on the concerned prisoners will be lifted on different dates, and the state government will proceed with legal actions against them accordingly.
However, Chandigarh Police has already placed Bhagwant Singh Bajeke on its wanted list, with his name included among 10,000 other individuals. This raises the possibility that even if Bajeke is released, Chandigarh Police could immediately arrest him.
Following the dissolution of NSA against Satnam Singh, those transferred to Amritsar Jail may face fresh arrests if their names are linked to the Ajnala incident
Prisoners whose NSA will wnd:
- Daljit Singh Kalsi
- Bhagwant Singh (Prime Minister Bajeke)
- Papalpreet Singh
- Kulwant Singh
- Gurmeet Singh
- Basant Singh
- Harjit Singh (Amritpal Singh’s uncle)
With Punjab Police intensifying its action, further legal proceedings and possible arrests are expected in the coming days.
