Ferozepur (Punjab), March 16, 2025: In a decisive action under Punjab’s ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, the Ferozepur Police and District Administration today demolished the illegally constructed house of an absconding drug peddler.
The accused, identified as Gurcharan Singh, was already facing three drug-related cases and had encroached upon one acre of Forest Department land in Jhuge Hazara village. A JCB machine was deployed to raze the illegal structure, with authorities confirming that the encroached land would soon be reclaimed.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, stated that the operation was carried out following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating drug networks, noting that numerous drug smugglers have already been arrested in the district as part of the crackdown.
“This is a clear warning to all drug dealers. Those involved in this trade must stop immediately, or they will face similar consequences. Properties acquired through illegal means will be seized or demolished,” said SSP Sidhu.
The demolition was witnessed by a large number of villagers, who praised the Punjab Government’s tough stance against drug trafficking. Residents expressed hope that such actions would help eliminate the drug menace from the region.
