Street Plays highlight Consumer Rights Awareness on World Consumer Rights Day in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, March 18, 2025: On World Consumer Rights Day, a street play awareness program was organized by the Postgraduate Commerce Department of Dev Samaj College for Women. The event aimed to educate students about consumer rights and the importance of awareness in preventing fraud.
The program was graced by Madam Ruchika Nanda, District Program Officer, Ferozepur, as the chief guest. It commenced with a welcome song, “Suni Jo Unke Aane Ki Aahat”, performed by the college’s music department under the guidance of Dr. Sandeep Kumar.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Sangeeta emphasized the significance of consumer rights, stating, “Ignorance about our rights can lead to exploitation. It is crucial to be aware and spread awareness.”
Chief guest Madam Ruchika Nanda also highlighted the risks of consumer fraud, stressing the need for legal awareness.
To enhance awareness, students performed various street plays, including “Paisa Vasool Gang”, “Pehchaan Apna Adhikar”, “Haq Ki Awaaz”, and “Janata Ki Adalat”. These performances were conceptualized and enacted by students to highlight real-life consumer issues.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Leena Kakkar (Head, PG Commerce Department), Madam Gagandeep Kaur, and Assistant Professor Bobby Kumar. Dr. Leena Kakkar also served as the event’s stage anchor. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, reinforcing the college’s commitment to academic, social, and cultural excellence.
