Amritsar (Punjab), April 5, 2025 – A Gay Parade scheduled to take place in Amritsar on April 27, 2025, has sparked controversy, with Sikh religious activists, including Nihang Singh factions, voicing strong opposition to the event.
Sikh leader Paramjit Singh Akali has appealed to the local administration to deny permission for the parade, stating that such events go against local cultural and social values.
He emphasized that religious sentiments must be respected in a city considered sacred in Sikhism.
“We will not allow a gay parade to take place in Amritsar under any circumstances,” Akali said, urging authorities to intervene and stop the planned event.
As of now, the administration has not issued an official response regarding the permissions or objections raised.
