Ludhiana (Punjab), April 5, 2025: In a major relief for retirees of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, a long-pending pension issue was resolved within hours following the prompt intervention of MP (Rajya Sabha) Sanjeev Arora.
A deputation of retired university employees met MP Arora on Friday evening to raise their long-standing concern regarding pension revision.
Responding swiftly, Arora immediately took up the matter with Rahul Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Dairy Development.
Remarkably, within just an hour, the department issued an official notification addressing the retirees’ demands.
As per the notification, the Governor of Punjab has approved the revision of pension/family pension for all retirees and family pensioners of GADVASU who retired or passed away before January 1, 2016.
This revision will be aligned with the Central Government pension structure for pre-2016 retirees. The orders also extend to those who retired or became eligible for pension as of December 31, 2015.
“We are grateful to MP Sanjeev Arora for resolving this long-pending matter,” said Baljinder Bansal, a university retiree, who was part of the deputation. He was joined by KB Singh, former Director of Extension, and Mohinder Oberai, another retiree.
The quick resolution has brought a wave of relief and appreciation among the retired university staff, many of whom had been waiting for this outcome for years.
