Anil Vij orders relocation of 33kV line from Dhulkot to Ambala Cantt sub-station

Chandigarh, April 20, 2025 – Haryana’s Energy Minister,Anil Vij has directed the state electricity corporation to remove the 33kV power line running from the Dhulkot 220kV sub-station to the 33kV sub-station at 12 Cross Road in Ambala Cantonment. The Minister said that action on dismantling the approximately 20-kilometer-long line will commence shortly.
Highlighting the need for the move, Vij explained that the line currently runs over several residential colonies, posing safety risks to residents. Its removal will bring relief to thousands of people living in these areas.
Colonies Set to Benefit from Line Removal-Vij
According to the Minister, the 33kV line passes through Ashok Nagar, Pooja Vihar, Kardhan, Naggal, Rampur, Sarsehri, Azad Nagar, Anand Nagar, Dayalbagh and surrounding colonies—as well as various sectors of Babiyal, Boh and Defense Colony.
Key landmarks like the Defense Colony Gurudwara and Shiv Temple and areas along Narayangarh Road, Tundla, Tundli, Garnala and colonies in Baldev Nagar are also affected.
With the removal of the line, thousands of residents in these localities will benefit from enhanced safety and infrastructure.The load carried by the 33kV line will be transferred to the 66kV sub-station at 12 Cross Road, ensuring uninterrupted power supply during and after the transition.
Over 200 Poles and Equipment to Be removed
As part of the project, the discom will removed over 200 iron and PCC poles, along with square conductors and other related equipment. A detailed plan for the removal process has already been prepared.
