Forum of elders seeks greener city & easier travel to Delhi, Haridwar
Ferozepur, April 20, 2025: The Executive Committee meeting of the Senior Citizen Forum (SCF), Ferozepur, was held under the leadership of President Pradeep Dhawan. The meeting witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Forum’s office bearers and executive members.
During the session, key resolutions were passed with a focus on public welfare and civic responsibility. The Forum unanimously decided to launch an initiative for environmental conservation by organizing tree plantation drives across the city. Members also raised concern over the growing menace of stray dogs and stray animals, which poses safety hazards, especially for children and senior citizens. It was resolved that formal letters would be sent to the local administration urging immediate action on both issues.
Another major highlight of the meeting was the demand for improved rail connectivity. General Secretary Mahinder Singh Dhariwal informed that the Forum would be writing to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ferozepur, to request the introduction of new train services from Ferozepur to Delhi and Haridwar.
The proposed train routes aim to provide much-needed convenience to residents, particularly the elderly, who frequently travel to Delhi for medical consultations and to Haridwar for spiritual and religious purposes. Currently, limited direct train services from Ferozepur create difficulties in planning such essential journeys. The Forum believes that better rail connectivity will not only enhance travel comfort but also promote tourism and economic engagement with these prominent destinations.
President Pradeep Dhawan concluded the meeting by acknowledging the valuable suggestions of all members and assured that letters would be promptly sent to the concerned authorities for timely action.
