MLA Dahiya announces Rs.28 Crore canal water project for Mudki homes
Ferozepur, April 19, 2025: Under a major initiative to improve the quality of drinking water, MLA Rajneesh Dahiya announced that every household within the municipal limits of Mudki town in the Ferozepur Rural constituency will soon receive clean canal water. The project, worth Rs.28 crore, has been finalized and the foundation stone is expected to be laid next month.
Providing details, MLA Dahiya said the project is being implemented under the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and guidance of Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Nijjar. He stated that this mega project will bring significant health benefits to the residents of Mudki by providing fresh canal water rich in natural minerals.
The project involves laying a 12-kilometer pipeline from the Sirhind Canal to a new water treatment plant to be built along the Faridkot-Mudki road. In addition, around 33 kilometers of water distribution pipeline will be laid to ensure water reaches all 2,500 households. The project will be executed in two phases.
The water treatment plant, which will cover approximately 3.5 acres, will purify canal water to make it suitable for drinking. MLA Dahiya held a detailed discussion about the project with SDO Gulshan Grover of the Water Supply and Sewerage Board at his office.
Highlighting his commitment to the constituency’s development, Dahiya mentioned that a multi-crore sewerage project is already underway in Mudki. Once completed, it will help residents get relief from wastewater and open drains, significantly improving sanitation in the area.
