DC Ferozepur conducts flood-prone area survey, orders pre-monsoon preparedness
Ferozepur, April 25, 2025: In preparation for the upcoming monsoon season, Deputy Commissioner, Deepshikha Sharma, conducted an extensive visit to flood-prone villages located near the Sutlej River to review ongoing arrangements. She was accompanied by ADC (Development) Harjinder Singh, SDM Guruharsahai Divya P, and Drainage Executive Engineer Gitesh Upveja.

During the visit to vulnerable villages including Gajni Wala, Hazara Singh Wala, Tendi Wala, Kalu Wala, BOP DRD Nath, and BOP Joginder, the DC issued necessary instructions to officials to ensure all flood preparedness measures are in place well in advance.
Emphasizing a proactive approach, she directed that special attention be given to low-lying and river-adjacent villages, which are often more severely impacted by floods. She also instructed departments to maintain open communication with villagers, understand their needs, and take timely action accordingly.
DC stressed the cleaning of drains, canals, and ponds, and ordered comprehensive arrangements for effective rainwater drainage during the monsoon season. She also interacted with BSF personnel stationed in the area and reviewed emergency response measures in case of rising water levels in the Sutlej River.
DC assured that the district administration is keeping a close watch on the situation, and officers have been assigned duties to visit vulnerable areas regularly. She urged residents of flood-prone regions to remain alert during the rainy season and to immediately inform the administration if any preventive work is required in their localities. She assured full support from the administration in all such cases.
