Chandigarh, May 17, 2025: In a major development in the ongoing espionage investigation, Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been remanded to five days of police custody after being arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan.
Malhotra, who runs a travel vlog and is originally from Hisar, was produced in court on Saturday by the Hisar Police, which secured her remand to facilitate further investigation.
She was detained from her residence on May 15 by a team led by DSP Jitendra Kumar, following inputs from intelligence agencies.
According to Hisar Police, Jyoti was in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives and had been transmitting sensitive information related to India via social media platforms.
Investigators revealed that she had traveled to Pakistan three times — twice with Sikh pilgrim groups and once through the Kartarpur Corridor, which led to her being placed under surveillance by Indian security agencies.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) is actively interrogating her to uncover the extent of the information she may have shared and to identify her contacts across the border.
A formal FIR has been registered at the Hisar Civil Lines Police Station. Authorities are also exploring whether she was part of a larger spy network. Her arrest is part of a broader crackdown on alleged espionage activities in northern India.
In the past week alone, three other alleged Pakistani spies — Noman Elahi from Panipat, Davinder Singh from Kaithal, and Armaan from Nuh — have been apprehended in Haryana. Additionally, two suspects were arrested in Malerkotla and one in Jalandhar, Punjab.
