Fourth major drug bust in a week: Ferozepur Police recover 12.07 Kg Heroin, ₹25.12 Lakh Cash
Ferozepur, May 22, 2025: In a major breakthrough under the ongoing "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs) campaign, the Ferozepur police have achieved another significant success by seizing 12.070 kg of heroin, ₹25.12 lakh in drug money, and a car (PB-01-F-1618). This marks the fourth major recovery within a week, reflecting intensified efforts under the leadership of DIG Ferozepur Range Harmanbir Singh Gill.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu revealed that 2.070 kg of heroin, ₹25.12 lakh in cash, and the vehicle were recovered from three accused — Karan Kumar alias Ghanni (22), Rohit Bhatti (24), and Akashdeep alias Akas (24) — all residents of Bukan Khan Wala village. The trio is already facing charges under the NDPS and Arms Acts from 2021 and 2025 and has now been booked again under the NDPS Act at Ghall Khurd Police Station.
During further investigation and remand-based interrogation, the police traced backwards and forward linkages, leading to the recovery of an additional 10 kg of heroin. The contraband was found hidden in a house located in Rikhi Colony, as disclosed by Karan alias Ghanni.
This latest recovery adds to earlier seizures of 1.887 kg on May 15, 4.225 kg on May 19, 2.020 kg along with ₹1.97 lakh on May 20, and the 2.070 kg with ₹25.12 lakh on May 21.
SSP Bhupinder Singh stated that the investigation is ongoing and, based on concrete evidence, more individuals involved in this drug network are likely to be identified and apprehended.
