War Against Drugs: Ferozepur MLAs Bhullar, Dahiya lead anti-drug awareness drives
Ferozepur, May 2, 2025: As part of Punjab Government’s ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, MLAs Ranbir Singh Bhullar (Ferozepur Urban) and Rajneesh Kumar Dahiya (Ferozepur Rural) spearheaded ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ awareness programs across various villages in their constituencies.
MLA Bhullar addressed gatherings at villages Kellow Wala, Khilchi Jadid, and Kariyan Pehlwan, urging citizens to actively participate in the mission to create a drug-free society. “Every citizen must take responsibility to eliminate drugs from their surroundings. The Punjab government is not only taking strict action against drug smugglers but also rehabilitating addicted youth to reintegrate them into society,” he said. Attendees were also administered an oath to not allow drug sales in their villages and to raise awareness among others.
Meanwhile, MLA Rajneesh Dahiya visited villages Kakkar, Tibbi Kalan, and Muhammad Khan Naziya, continuing the awareness drive under the same campaign. He highlighted that the crackdown on drug peddlers has intensified in recent months and emphasized turning this campaign into a people’s movement. Villagers were encouraged to pledge against drug use and trade and to support addicts in seeking rehabilitation.
Dahiya appealed to citizens to report any drug-related activities anonymously and assured that the state has strengthened treatment and rehabilitation facilities across Punjab. “The goal is not only to fight drugs legally but to bring a positive societal transformation through community participation,” he added.
Both leaders reaffirmed the government’s commitment and emphasized collaboration among panchayats, gram raksha committees, police, and the district administration to ensure the success of the anti-drug campaign.
Prominent attendees included Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gossal (Coordinator, Nasha Mukti Morcha), BDPO Sukhwinder Kaur, Block President Sharanjit Singh Lahiri, village heads, and a large number of residents.
