AAP’s Sanjeev Arora showcases development report card ahead of Ludhiana West by-poll

Ludhiana (Punjab), June 10, 2025 — As the campaign for the Ludhiana (West) Assembly by-election gains momentum, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora held a key poll meeting with residents of Rajguru Nagar (Ward No. 58), highlighting his developmental achievements and vision for the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Arora presented his three-year performance as a Rajya Sabha MP and shared a detailed report card of 70 days of accelerated development across Ludhiana.
Major Milestones and Civic Achievements
Arora emphasized that his persistent efforts led to the long-awaited resolution of six 30-year-old Improvement Trust schemes.
These include Rajguru Nagar, Maharishi Valmiki Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Bharat Nagar Extension, Sant Ishar Singh Nagar, and Sukhdev Enclave, which have now been transferred to the Municipal Corporation, unlocking development potential for thousands of residents.
He further highlighted the grant of ownership rights to around 1,600 Lal Lakir residents, ending a 75-year wait.Arora also played a key role in completing the pending construction of the Hero Bakery Bridge, making both sides operational after a five-year delay.
Infrastructure and Public Services Upgrades
Among notable civic upgrades:
- Two new community centers have been inaugurated in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and Model Town Extension.
- The registration process for 2,016 properties in Rishi Nagar’s XYZ Block was initiated after being stuck for over four decades.
- The deployment of 15 advanced supersuction machines has provided much-needed relief from sewerage problems.
- The installation of 250 new transformers has helped stabilize the city's power supply.
- 250 km of roads have been constructed or repaired to improve urban mobility.
- 8,200 new streetlights have been installed to enhance safety and night-time visibility.
- Renovation of city parks and early city-wide fogging operations were also undertaken to control mosquito-borne diseases like dengue.
Arora also announced the renaming of the road in front of ISKCON Janpath to ‘A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada Marg’, honoring the spiritual leader’s legacy.
Call for Support in Bypoll
In his address, Arora urged the electorate to vote for AAP in the June 19 poll, promising to work "four times harder" if elected.
“The work we’ve done in just 70 days is a glimpse of the pace at which Ludhiana can progress. With your support, I promise to deliver even faster development for the people of Ludhiana (West),” he said.
He also credited the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government for its “pro-people” policies and initiatives that have empowered local governance and accelerated infrastructure projects.
The meeting was attended by several party workers and leaders, including Pradeep Chaudhary and Municipal Councillor Satnam Singh Sunny Master.
