Haryana tightens grip on drug network: Over 1,800 arrests, massive seizures in 2025
Dr. Sumita Misra Urges Public to Use 1933 MANAS Helpline in Fight against Narcotics

Chandigarh, June 10, 2025 - The Haryana Government has significantly intensified its fight against drug abuse and called upon every citizen to become an active partner in achieving the vision of a Drug-Free Haryana.
Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, has urged all citizens to proactively use the MANAS Helpline 1933 which is a 24x7 confidential service designed to empower the community in the fight against narcotics.
Dr. Misra stated that citizens can report any information concerning drug trafficking, including the sale, purchase, or illicit cultivation of narcotics. MANAS Helpline (1933) offers a secure and confidential platform for individuals to address critical issues while keeping their identities confidential, she added. The MANAS Helpline also serves as a vital resource for those seeking guidance and support for de- addiction and rehabilitation services.

Dr. Misra emphasized that the fight against drugs cannot succeed without full cooperation from society.
While government bodies like the NCB play a crucial role, their efforts alone are not enough. She stated that the Haryana Government is following a Whole-of-Government approach, combining structural, institutional, and digital reforms to dismantle the drug ecosystem from every angle.
Modern surveillance tools such as the GIS-enabled MAPDRUGS portal and mobile app are being used to monitor and act against illegal drug cultivation and trafficking with greater precision.
She stated that, in line with the visionary leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the government launched the ambitious Drug-Free Haryana Cyclothon 2.0 to build mass public participation in the anti-drug movement.
Flagged off from Sirsa, the Cyclothon pass through all 90 assembly constituencies between April 5 and April 27, 2025, transforming into a state-wide people’s movement.With over 4.5 lakh cyclists actively participating and more than 7.2 lakh citizens attending events, the campaign mobilized communities like never before.
From elected representatives to women, youth, and rural residents every section of society echoed a united voice against the menace of drugs.
Dr. Misra disclosed that the government has taken stringent action on the enforcement front. In the first four months of 2025, the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB) carried out major operations, seizing 22.40 kg of heroin, 57.78 kg of Charas, 1,520.71 kg of Ganja, 87.09 kg of Opium, and 6,766.33 kg of Poppy Straw.
Authorities also confiscated 1,609 bottles, 48,982 capsules, 3,152 injectable narcotics, over 95,000 tablets, and 128.35 kg of opium poppy. During this same period, 1,130 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, out of which 143 involved commercial quantities.
A total of 1,801 offenders were arrested, including 332 for possession or trafficking of commercial quantity drugs. Additionally, 34 offenders were detained under preventive sections of the PITNDPS Act, 1988.
