New Delhi, June 13, 2025: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) today dedicated the Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, located at Gurdwara Bala Sahib, to the people of Delhi. The dedication was marked by a solemn 'Ardas' ceremony.
DSGMC President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka announced that the state-of-the-art, multi-utility hospital will offer world-class healthcare services while charging patients fees comparable to those at government hospitals. He also highlighted that all OPD services will be free of cost.
Reflecting on the hospital’s journey, S. Kalka said that the foundation for the project was laid in 2019 under the leadership of S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa as DSGMC President and himself as General Secretary.
“We began with a free dialysis centre, and to date, over 90,000 dialysis procedures have been conducted without charging a single penny. The hospital doesn’t even have a billing counter,” he said proudly.
S. Kalka emphasized that the hospital serves all sections of society, irrespective of caste, color, or creed. It features departments such as nephrology, urology, gynecology, pediatrics, two intensive care units (including a pediatric ICU), and cutting-edge diagnostic tools like CT scan and ultrasound.
He expressed special gratitude to Kar Sewa Waley Baba Ji – Baba Bachan Singh Ji, Baba Satnam Singh Ji, and Baba Surinder Singh Ji – for their contributions and assured the public that the hospital would maintain the highest standards in healthcare delivery.
Kalka also noted the importance of government support, stating that S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s presence in the Delhi government helps DSGMC fulfill its genuine needs.A request has already been made to include the hospital under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which would expand its outreach to the underprivileged.
Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa (Minister of Food and Supplies, Industry, Forest, and Environment, Delhi Government) shared his emotional connection to the hospital.
“This hospital is a symbol of seva. Once our government was formed, we ensured all pending permissions were granted to make this opening possible,” he stated.
Sirsa also announced that DSGMC has been allocated ₹100 crore to launch skill development programs and emphasized that collaboration with the government can bring greater benefits to the community.
He praised former DSGMC President Avtar Singh Hit for securing land for the hospital and urged all Sikh community members, including political rivals, to unite for the collective good.
He also credited Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta for playing a crucial role in reviving the hospital, which had remained shut since 2006.
Sirsa proposed opening a Law College in Delhi to encourage more Sikh youth to pursue legal education and also lauded Smt. Ranjit Kaur’s initiative to launch a Ramgarhia Bank, calling it a visionary move.
Other DSGMC office bearers, including General Secretary S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon and several dignitaries, were present during the dedication ceremony.
