Haryana completes all pending Panchayat polls, no local body elections pending: SEC Dhanpat Singh

Chandigarh, June 16, 2025 - Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh has said that after completion of Panchayat by-elections yesterday on June 15 and general elections of some Panchayats which have been converted back from Nagarpalika to Panchayat, now no Panchayat election is pending with the State Election Commission.
Apart from this, voting for the general election for Kalanwali, Sirsa is to be held on June 29, 2025. Today was the last date for filing nomination for that.
The counting of votes will be done on June 30, and along with this, no election for any local body is pending with the Election Commission. Elections are to be held for 17 wards in Kalanwali Municipality.
Sh. Dhanpat Singh was talking to journalists in his office today after the Panchayat by-elections were held on June 15.He said despite the heat, the percentage of by-elections was 73.25% which shows that people were very interested to vote in the Panchayat elections.
He informed that except for court stay, if due to any reason like voluntary resignation by the elected public representative, death or due to passing of a no-confidence motion against any public representative the seat gets vacant, in such situation it is mandatory for the Commission to conduct re-election within 6 months.
He said in total, by-elections were scheduled for 830 seats of Panches, 74 seats of Sarpanches, 17 seats of Panchayat Samiti members and 1 seat of Zila Parishad member at the Panchayat level.
Out of these, many candidates were elected unopposed for the posts of Panches and Sarpanches.
He informed that now along with the general election of Panches and Sarpanches of Gram Panchayat Hansavas Khurd of Badhra block of Charkhi Dadri district and Gram Panchayat Badli, Muhammadpura Mazra and Faizabad of Badli block of Jhajjar district, elections for 56 Panches, 61 Sarpanches, 8 members of Panchayat Samiti and 1 seat of Zila Parishad member were conducted on 15th June from 8 am to 6 pm. EVMs were used in the voting.
He informed that the election process was completed in a completely peaceful manner. No news of any untoward incident was received from anywhere.
Elections for Sarpanch of Tamaspura Panchayat of Fatehabad district, member of Ward No. 12 of Gharaunda Block Samiti of Karnal district, Sarpanch of Dubalu, Karhera, Andhaki, Badhah, Dungeja Panchayat of Nuh district and Panch of Kotla and Sarpanch of Aahar were not conducted due to stay in the court.
