Major Infrastructure Boost for Dhuri as Work on Railway Overbridge Set to Begin: CM Mann
₹54.76 Crore Project to be Completed in 18 Months; Railway Clearance Secured
Chandigarh, June 29, 2025 – In a significant development for Punjab, particularly for the residents of Dhuri, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday announced that construction of a much-awaited double-lane Railway Overbridge (ROB) at level crossing number 62A in Dhuri will commence soon.
The Chief Minister said that the ₹54.76 crore project, fully funded by the state government, had been delayed due to the pending No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Railways. However, following consistent follow-ups by the Punjab government, the necessary clearance has now been granted, paving the way for the project to move forward.
Once initiated, the overbridge is expected to be completed within 18 months. CM Mann highlighted that the ROB will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity across the Malwa region, especially benefiting the residents of Dhuri and surrounding areas.
He further explained that while the groundwork for the project had commenced in 2024, official approvals were awaited since March 2025, causing unavoidable delays. “Our government worked persistently to ensure that the Railway NOC was obtained, and we are now ready to begin work on this critical infrastructure project,” said the Chief Minister.
Reiterating his commitment to Punjab’s holistic development, Bhagwant Singh Mann said the state is undergoing a transformation marked by rapid infrastructure growth. “This project is another step toward building a Rangla Punjab. We are committed to ensuring that every region receives the attention and resources it deserves,” he added.
