Major Drug Bust in Ferozepur: Police seize 6 Kg heroin, 5 held under NDPS Act
Ferozepur, June 29, 2025: Under the ongoing "Operation Nasha Virodhi" (Anti-Drug Drive), the Ferozepur Police – CIA Staff Wing - made a significant breakthrough by arresting five accused and recovering a large quantity of narcotics. The operation was carried out under the NDPS Act in two separate cases, leading to the seizure of a total of 6 kilograms and 193 grams of heroin, one Brezza car (PB-05BE-0551), and two motorcycles (PB-5825 series).
As per SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, under the directions of the Punjab government and higher police authorities, the CIA team of Ferozepur – under tutelage of SP Manjeet Singh, DSP Sukhminder Singh, alongwith Mohit Dhawan, Incharge, has been actively pursuing leads to break the drug supply chain in the district. The successful efforts have led to the arrest of individuals involved in smuggling and distribution of narcotics.
He said, in the first case registered on June 28, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at City Police Station Ferozepur, three persons - Gurpreet Singh (20 years), resident of village Jhugge Nihanga Wale, Sukhraj Singh (18 years), resident of village Jhugge Nihanga Wale and Pawan Singh (22 years), resident of village Jhugge Nihanga Wale with recovery of 2 kg 611 gm heroin and one motorcycle. In the second case, registered on the same day, under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at City Police Station Ferozepur, two persons - Vishal (26 years), resident of Guru Har Sahai, currently residing at Lohianwala, Ferozepur and Kisan Kumar (24 years), resident of Khai Pheme Ki, working at an electronic shop near Basti Balochanwala – were arrested with recovery of 3 kg 591 gm heroin, one Brezza car (PB-05BE-0551) and one motorcycle.
Briefing about the previous criminal history, he said, while Vishal is facing case under NDPS Act at Ferozepur Cantt police station involved in trafficking 100 gm of heroin of September 2023 and Kisan Kumar also involved in trafficking 50 gm of heroin of August 2019.
SSP said, “During the investigations, more clues have come on surface and major recoveries with arrest of involvement of persons in the drug menace are likely to be made in the coming days”.
Ferozepur Police reaffirmed their commitment to uprooting the drug menace and called upon the public to support the department by reporting suspicious activity.
