Chandigarh, July 4, 2025: Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh, recently caught in controversy over his film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, has received a partial reprieve
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has lifted the ban on Diljit for one project only – ‘Border 2’ – allowing him to complete his role in the film.
The controversy erupted after the Pahalgam terror attack, following which Indian film bodies had announced a ban on working with Pakistani artists.
Despite this, 'Sardaar Ji 3' was released internationally (excluding India), with its producers clarifying that shooting was completed before the attack and before any ban was enforced.
Amid speculation that Diljit would be dropped from 'Border 2', the actor recently shared a video from the film’s set, confirming that he remains part of the cast.
Bhushan Kumar Confirms Diljit’s Involvement – For Now
T-Series head Bhushan Kumar, the producer of Border 2, stated that only one song remains to be shot, making it difficult to replace Diljit at this stage. However, he made it clear that he will not cast Diljit in any future projects.
“I’ve officially informed the Federation that Diljit will not be part of any of my future films,” said Kumar.
Industry Backlash Still Ongoing
Ashoke Pandit, President of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association, echoed similar sentiments.
“The ban is lifted only for Border 2. Our industry-wide boycott of Diljit will continue. Any producer working with him in the future will do so at their own risk and responsibility,” Pandit warned.
While Diljit will finish his role in ‘Border 2’, his standing in the Indian film industry remains uncertain, with a continued unofficial blacklist looming over his future collaborations.
